Barbora Biskupová is a Prague-based artist completing her degree at the Illustration Studio at UMPRUM. Her practice focuses primarily on book illustration and fine art printmaking, with a special affinity for drawing wild, mysterious stories for children populated by forests, shadows, strange animals, and unique protagonists. For the festival, she presents an exhibition based on her upcoming children’s picture book provisionally titled “Švabadyba”. Loosely inspired by the original chapters of Peter Pan, the narrative follows a six-month-old girl who wakes up hungry at night and, forgetting she is no longer a bird, flies out into a park to hunt mice. Her journey through the night garden opens up fundamental, whimsical questions about identity and what to have for dinner. The display showcases the final book created with alcohol markers alongside several original illustrations and various preparatory process materials.
