Clara Vastano is an illustrator and artist originally from Berlin who now lives and studies in Halle to find a calmer environment for her practice. In her work, she frequently discusses themes such as womanhood, otherness, and the emotive, often framing these concepts with a subtle, socially critical tone. Seeking inspiration from nature to describe the unsayable, the funny ways of life, and the everydayness of living, she frequently incorporates recurring motifs like glances, stances, silhouettes, vast fields, and trees. For the festival, she presents a comic printed in a brown and teal Risograph palette, which she intends to showcase alongside her original A5 drawings and four A3 close-up world-building posters. To recreate the atmospheric setting of her narrative, she also plans to display the comic itself alongside two to three large, semi-transparent screen-printed banners depicting the woods where her protagonist finds happiness.
