Daria Dedok is an animated film director and illustrator based on the outskirts of Prague. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animation and has since split her time between filmmaking and illustration. Her original films have been screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and featured as Vimeo Staff Picks. As an illustrator, her work was presented at Prague’s LUSTR festival, among other venues, where she introduced her original comic book Never Again. In her work, she plays with grotesque characters and scenes that alternate between irony and melancholy. Her style is characterized by repeating motifs, contrasting colors, and a personal visual vocabulary. She draws inspiration from the poetry of oppressive peripheries, existentialism, teenage maximalism, Soviet modernism, and French “poètes maudits” (accursed poets).
