Juna Horstmans is a Dutch–Australian illustrator and designer working between London and Amsterdam. Her creative practice centers on tactile collage and paper-based processes, translating everyday observations from nature, found objects, and domestic rituals into layered visual compositions and moving images. For the festival, she presents an exhibition concept centered on a series of monochromatic works that reframe traditional still life as a method for capturing quiet moments in time. By deliberately reducing each composition to a single tonal field, her artwork extends a sense of stillness, drawing the viewer’s attention to form, shadow, and subtle spatial relationships. This restrained, minimal palette reinforces the contemplative nature of her subjects, slowing down the viewer’s perception while emphasizing the balance between presence and absence. Ultimately, the familiar objects and floral arrangements in her work become markers of pause, inviting viewers to engage with the quiet intensity held within everyday scenes.
