I am Laura Érsek, currently studying animation at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. I love to eat, most of my comic book ideas were born in different restaurants (my favourite is the IKEA café, I owe a lot to those famous meatballs but really).
My first comic book is called How My Great-Grandmother shot Her Captain Lover and other stories, debuted at the 2023 Budapest International Comic Book Festival and won the festival’s Fresh to the Press competition in the short story category.
I like to draw from my own life, I’m very interested in different family patterns, transgenerational legacies (related to this is one of my recent works OUR HOUSE which I made at WOMCOM’s (Women Power in Comics) residency in Serbia. My largest work to date is In the Belly of the Tiger, published in Ciceró Book Studio’s youth anthology, Metamorphosis, which was very much inspired by the Francophone comics culture I grew up on.
I am the proud owner of 2 rats who inspire and taste my work a lot.
