Orugasan is a multidisciplinary artist based in the German countryside whose award-winning practice spans risograph printing, silkscreening, textile art, and independent bookmaking. For the festival, she presents “The Rebel Garden,” a deeply evocative, multimedia archive that transforms her daily rural walks into a radical visual manifesto about the political act of cultivating life during times of global crisis. Drawing conceptual inspiration from historical figures like George Orwell and Derek Jarman, her exhibition reframes the domestic garden as a resilient outpost against death and political destruction. The expansive installation is systematically organized as a library of distinct human and ecological states, bringing together tactile quilts that utilize heavy stitching as a metaphor for psychological repair alongside pocket altars meant to comfort the viewer. Her display also features a series of intricate risograph zines and an original Book of Hours that document changing seasonal structures, while incorporating interactive seed-zines filled with real botanical seeds for visitors to plant.
