Tymon Teo Borzecki is a Polish, Helsinki-based visual artist whose diverse practice moves fluidly between two- and three-dimensional realms, spanning across print, drawing, ceramics, and sculpture. For the festival, they present a multilayered installation that takes their comic “BIG WATER 97’” as a creative departure point to explore themes of (trans)masculinity, metamorphosis, reclaimed monstrosity, and bodily grief within the context of dysphoria-affected trans bodies and the intersection of transness and disability. The exhibition merges their drawing and print work with three-dimensional sculptural elements, transforming the comic’s narrative pages into a physical environment where unfamiliarity and processes of change overtake the surroundings. Visitors are invited to step directly into the world of the characters through a display of ceramic sculptures paired with manipulated synthetic materials, such as engraved, carved transparent, or metal hanging elements. Ultimately, this immersive installation intentionally plays with scale and dimensions, contrasting the quiet intimacy of reading a personal zine alone with the shared experience of entering a larger physical space alongside other festival visitors.
