Dana Lédl, known by her pseudonym Myokard, is an experienced Czech illustrator and graphic designer. She began her work with illustrated diaries that reflected personal experiences and opinions, and gradually became a recognized author of book and magazine covers. Currently, she creates illustrations for the prestigious weekly Respekt, for which she was nominated for Illustrator of the Year in 2024 at the Czech Grand Design awards. Her work is characterized by a distinctive style full of humor, sarcasm, and a critical view of society.
In this workshop, Dana will guide you through the entire process of creating a magazine cover. Together, you will go through the creative workflow from the assignment of the topic, through initial sketching, to the final editing and exporting of the image ready to be sent to the client. You will learn how to work with ideas, develop visual concepts, and maintain a unique style that engages both readers and editors. Ideally, please bring your own laptop or iPad with the drawing software you’re used to. If you can’t bring a device, you’re welcome to work on paper, which will be provided.
This workshop is ideal for beginner illustrators and designers who want to delve into the world of magazine illustration and learn how to create covers effectively and creatively.
