Draw, mark, overlay, sequence, thread, and piece together your own, one-of-a-kind mini comic zine! In this workshop led by Hong Kong comic artists Kayla Lui and Evelyn Bih, you will make comics with experimental comic panels and learn a simple saddle book stitching technique to assemble your zine. This workshop is suitable for those who are interested in zine-making and DIY publishing. No experience in zine making is required.
Evelyn Bih graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University and won the Hong Kong Outstanding Visual Art Student Award in 2016 as well as the Outstanding Student Artist Award Hong Kong 2017. Through her illustrations and comics, she tries to deal with her own depressive states and obsessive thoughts, often works with bodily details and distorted anatomy. Kayla Lui graduated in 2020 with a degree in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts, London. She works as an illustrator and comic artist, currently alternating between Hong Kong and London. In her work, she uses comic frames as different ways of seeing and turns her observations into more dystopian interpretations.
The workshop will be conducted in English and is suitable for participants aged 15 and older.
