Workshop by Darío Adanti, a comic artist and author of the book ‘We Are Meteors’ (Astiberri 2022), a graphic essay about global warming and the climate crisis we are facing.
How to narrate climate change in comics and what can comics contribute? This workshop is open to all who are interested in exploring aspects of climate change in comics. The workshop will focus on graphic communication about climate change, particularly on using visual metaphors to tell a climate change story in comics, playing with the intricate relationship between image and text. Darío Adanti will showcase the materials he used in creating the comic ‘We Are Meteors,’ along with his sketches and notes. He will then propose several practical exercises.
The workshop will guide participants towards conceptualizing a visual metaphor that will form the foundation of a climate change story. The workshop is open to all enthusiasts without the need for prior experience. Participants can bring along their usual drawing tools from home; magazines, photographs, newspapers, etc., will be useful for collage techniques, and they may also bring an iPad.
The workshop is organized by Instituto Cervantes and will be in English.
