What happens when illustrators bring their drawings to life and turn them into a space you can actually step into? What does an exhibition look like when simply looking is not enough—and you need to get hands-on? Or even more hands? The exhibition All in the Same Boat was created by the team of the LUSTR Festival of Illustration and Comics together with fourteen illustrators. You will find, for example, a drawing robot that only works when operated by four hands, an animal dating site where different creatures look for their perfect partners, a book for a giant—made with the help of an entire village—or a large mural painting that will need help from you too… This exhibition by artists who draw for children and with children will convince you that on this planet, we are all in the same boat. So bring a friend, your mum or dad, grandma and grandpa, a neighbour, a teammate—or your whole class—and come to Labyrint together. This is not an exhibition you can fully enjoy on your own!
The new interactive exhibition All in the Same Boat will transform the Labyrint Gallery at Drak Theatre into a space where art installations come alive and communicate with visitors—and also thanks to them. The exhibition, prepared by the LUSTR Festival of Illustration and Comics team under the leadership of curator Barbora Müllerová, presents works by fourteen Czech illustrators. The opening will take place on Children’s Day, 1 June 2025, at 3:00 PM. After the opening, there will be a concert for children titled Ó, ó, ó, vajíčko – naposled!, a musical fairy tale by Ester Stará, Beata Hlavenková and Patrik Hlavenka, featuring Martha Issová. Afterwards, visitors will have another chance to see the new exhibition until 7:00 PM.
The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking 800 years of the city of Hradec Králové. It will be open to the public until June 2026 on weekends and during school holidays (except Mondays). It is suitable for children aged 6 and up and their accompanying adults.
