Illustration Symposium in Broumov
The fifth edition of the Illustration Symposium took place in Broumov from March 18 to April 2, 2023. The host of this event was once again the Educational and Cultural Center of Broumov and the Dům Gallery, where three Czech female illustrators, two Czech male illustrators, and a Romanian artist worked and created side by side for two weeks. As part of the symposium’s accompanying program, there were screenings of animated films and artistic workshops with a nature theme. Adults and teenagers had the opportunity to participate in a discussion about Romanian illustration and a debate about the craft of illustration, which, in addition to podcast interviews with artists, are available on the internet.
During the symposium, the residents created a series of exhibition projects. However, they also actively engaged in exploring the Broumov area and regional culture. Lastly, it is important to mention the sharing of knowledge and professional experience, networking, and cross-disciplinary connections that took place.
