What happens when illustrators bring their drawings to life and create a space you can actually step into? What does an exhibition look like when it’s not enough to just look at it—you have to get involved? Maybe even with more than two hands?
The exhibition In the Same Boat was created by the team behind the LUSTR Illustration and Comics Festival in collaboration with fourteen illustrators. It features, among other things, a drawing robot that only works when operated by four hands, an animal dating service where creatures seek out their perfect match, a giant’s book that required an entire village to create, and a massive mural that even needs your help to complete… This exhibition, created by artists who draw for children and with children, will convince you that we’re all in the same boat on this planet.
So bring your friend, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, neighbor, teammate—or the whole class—and come visit the Labyrinth. This is one exhibition that just isn’t the same when experienced alone!
The new interactive exhibition In the Same Boat transforms the Labyrinth of the Drak Theatre into a space where art installations come alive and interact with visitors—and even thanks to them.
Curated by Barbora Müllerová and organized by the LUSTR Illustration and Comics Festival team, the exhibition presents works by fourteen Czech illustrators. The opening will take place on Children’s Day, June 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Following the opening, there will be a special children’s concert, Oh, Oh, Oh, Egg – One Last Time!, a musical fairy tale by Ester Stará, Beata Hlavenková, and Patrik Hlavenka, featuring Martha Issová. After the concert, visitors can return to view the new exhibition until 7:00 PM.
This exhibition is part of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the city of Hradec Králové. It will be open to the public until June 2026, on weekends and during school holidays (except Mondays). Suitable for children 6 years and older and their companions.
