Martin Foret is a researcher and one of the pioneers of Czech comics studies. He works at the Faculty of Arts of Palacký University in Olomouc, where he is also active in the Center for Comics Studies, a joint workplace of the Palacký University and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. He deals with the theory of visual culture and the history of comics, and has contributed to a number of excellent publications focused on the history, prehistory and theory of (mostly) Czechoslovak comics. His most popular comic novels include Frederik Peeters’s Blue Pills, l’Ascension du Haut Mal (in English as Epileptic) by David B. and Branko Jelinek’s Oskar Ed. We are delighted that he will be taking on the role of a juror for the comics and creative collectives sections of the Showcase exhibition of this year’s LUSTR!
