LUSTR 2 – illustration festival
September 25–27, 2015 – Prague, Cihelná Street 4, Malá Strana
During the three-day festival, visitors had the opportunity to view an exhibition featuring over 40 Czech and Slovak illustrators, as well as international artists living in the Czech Republic.
Exhibiting artists included, for example:
Maria Makeeva, Léna Brauner, the duo Tomski & Polanski, Veronika Vlková and Jan Šrámek, Patrik Antczak, studio LOV B&D, Eva Maceková, and others.
A catalog was published in connection with the festival – a collection of profiles of ten exhibiting illustrators, including interviews.
In addition to the exhibition, the festival offered a range of workshops, screenings, and lectures. Highlights of the second edition included a Risograph printing workshop with the Austrian studio Soybot, a paper ice cream-making workshop with the Italian studio Fludd, and a lecture by Berlin-based illustrator Lasse Wandschneider.
As part of the festival, the popular “magazine for children of smart parents,” RAKETA, published by Labyrint, was also launched. The festival annually includes a space for the related field of animation, featuring screenings of student films.
The festival organizer and exhibition curator was the bookshop and publisher PageFive, which focuses on the sale and production of art publications, artist prints, and artistic periodicals. For its organization of the festival, PageFive was nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award 2015 in the Retailer of the Year category for the second time.

The 2015 program focused primarily on international guests.
Highlights included the Gelatology workshop by the Italian studio Fludd, where festival visitors created their own paper ice cream.

The festival included the launch of RAKETA, a magazine for children of smart parents, accompanied by an exhibition of authors published in the magazine.
Visitors could enjoy homemade ice cream from Hlína, prepared by art students. They created their own stand and shared their ice cream with the public.
The program also included an evening music program and a competition for the audience’s favorite illustrator. Visitors could fill out a form listing three illustrators who impressed them most. The illustrator with the highest audience votes received a prize from the festival organizers.
A children’s corner was prepared by DEVOTO – furniture with a story.
