Mikael Ross is a Berlin-based comics creator focused mostly on documentary work. After apprenticing as a theater tailor with the Bavarian State Opera, he attended the Weissensee Academy of Art in Berlin for four years before spending a year abroad in Brussels, studying comics at the Saint-Luc School of the Arts. He has done an artist’s residency in the grand comics town of Angoulême, exhibited his work in Lucerne (Switzerland), Hamburg, and Frankfurt, and taught comic workshops in Berlin. In between comics he works as an educator and illustrator.
Ross was the recipient of the very first graphic novel scholarship from Berlin’s Senate Department for Culture and Europe and recieved the Max and Moritz award for best german comic of the year in 2020 for his book the Thud.
